Taking the Global Stage, Collaborating on Technology Global Expansion: ICGEB China RRC Takes Active Part in the 16th Taizhou Medical Expo

On November 28, 2025, the 16th Taizhou Medical Expo grandly opened at the China Medical City Exhibition and Convention Center in Taizhou, Jiangsu Province. Under the theme "Advancing the Industrialization of Innovative Achievements and Driving New Growth in the Health Industry," the expo spanned over 30,000 square meters. It brought together innovative products, cutting-edge technologies, and R&D achievements from various global sectors, including pharmaceuticals and biological products, medical devices and diagnostic equipment, health products, and nutritional supplements. More than 30 concurrent summit forums were held, gathering top experts such as Academicians Chen Zhu and Jin Li to delve into frontier topics like AI-driven drug development and cell therapy.

At the "Pharmaceutical Enterprise ESG Capacity Building Forum," Dr. Yang Yili, Director of the RRC, was invited to deliver a keynote speech. Titled "Exploring the Path of Innovative Development: ICGEB and China's Pharmaceutical Industry," his presentation started from the "Social" dimension of ESG, profoundly elaborated on ICGEB's outstanding contributions in talent cultivation and equitable health within the life sciences through promoting international scientific collaboration and knowledge-sharing. He highlighted how these efforts align with the core principles of ESG, demonstrating the Center's dedication to fostering a sustainable ecosystem for the pharmaceutical industry.

During the Expo, Dr. Molalegne Bitew, Chief Researcher and Director of Health Biotechnology at the Ethiopian Biotechnology and Emerging Technology Institute (BETin) and Associate Professor of Virology, along with Dr. Abdulselam Kedir Yasin, Office Director, were invited to visit the RRC. Accompanied by the Center's Adjunct Professor Boon Siaw Shi, the delegation conducted field visits to key pharmaceutical enterprises within the park, including Jiangsu Zhongtian Pharmaceutical, Jiangsu Puruowei Biotech, Jiangsu Overseas Pharmaceuticals, and Jiangsu Cowin Biotech Co., and also attended the "2025 16th Taizhou Medical Expo." The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on biopharmaceutical technology transfer. Plans were made to introduce advanced technologies such as PCR series technologies (including microsphere PCR), rapid biochemical testing, and lab-on-a-chip diagnostic platforms leveraging the China Medical City platform. Subsequent steps will involve technology verification and localization promotion within Ethiopian enterprises and research institutions. This visit established an efficient communication bridge in the biopharmaceutical field between China and Ethiopia, not only assisting in the upgrade of medical diagnostic technologies in Ethiopia but also providing a significant opportunity for the global expansion of China's advanced technologies and the broadening of international cooperation.
